How do you train Sailors aboard a submerged submarine?
FedTech Magazine just spotlighted our mission to revolutionize Navy readiness with shipboard 3D training simulations. Together, we’re helping tackle a $400 million annual training backlog. It started with an embodied VR submarine maintenance lesson that lets Sailors practice every wrench turn. We then adapted the same content for a Nintendo Switch–style handheld gaming PC, enabling the crew to keep sharpening their skills anywhere on the boat.
The article highlights how our Mobile–Navy Enhanced Simulation for Training (Mobile-NEST) program fuses the immersive depth of VR with the portability of handhelds to boost fleet readiness.
The deck-plate verdict? Ninety-six percent of Sailors rated the handheld trainer good-to-excellent and everyone mastered the controls in minutes. It’s a clear step toward Ready Relevant Learning’s “anytime, anywhere” vision—and proof of what a nimble industry partner and a forward-thinking NAWCTSD MRTS 3D® team can achieve together.
