Walmart presentation at ATD and Oculus Quest launch

Updated: Jun 21, 2019

First, a heads-up for those attending the ATD 2019 International Conference & Exposition in Washington DC next week. Gronstedt Group will be co-presenting, along with our colleagues Heather Durtschi and Daniel Shepherd from Walmart, a fascinating case story on the retail giant’s wildly successful Spark City mobile business game. We’re set for Wednesday at 10am – you can visit the event site to learn more and add this session to your agenda.

If you’re not able to attend ATD, you can catch the recording of our recent webcast on Spark City here. Even better, you can download the game from the App Store or Google Play and try it for yourself.

Next week also promises to be a big week for virtual reality learning, as Oculus is set to release its much-anticipated Quest mobile VR headset. Quest is the world’s first completely standalone room-scale VR headset, meaning users can now roam freely while making full use of their hands.

Our team received early access to the Oculus Quest and … wow. Honestly, we’ve been completely blown away by the ease of use and depth of immersion. It’s like actually being in the performance environment, without distracting wires, reliance on a PC or other limitations.

Paired with a new business platform, this $400 device should dramatically accelerate the pace of enterprise VR adoption. If this sounds interesting (and it is – it really, really is) we’ll be using Oculus Quest VR to demo and share our development experiences at several conferences this spring. Next month we’ll be at the Life Sciences Trainers & Educators Network (LTEN) Annual conference in Dallas, the Training Industry Conference & Expo in Raleigh and Realities360 in San Jose. July will find us at the Serious Play Conference in Orlando and in September we’ll be attending the TechLearn Conference in New Orleans.

We’re happy to set up a call to share our latest experiences with mobile VR and game-based learning. Send me an email to discuss how we can partner to accelerate the digital transformation of your learning mission.
